Dear Family and Friends,
We are thankful to the Lord this day for three weeks of good Lab Results for Tim. He is doing great. He’s textured and painting the kitchen, playing music and actually been over to his school and doing some recording.
Today however, we are asking for your fervent prayer on behalf of our 4 year old great nephew Kobe. He had an MRI today in which was found a tumor on his brain, enlarged thyroid and swollen lymph nodes. They have to wait until Monday for a biopsy on the lymph nodes as the starting point.
Please pray for his Mom, Brooke, who is doing her rotation at the end of pharmaceutical school, Dad Brady and both sets of Grandparents who are very involved in his life. This is going to be a very difficult wait over the upcoming weekend but thankfully they all got to come home.
Please pray for strength, peace, and courage to take it all one day at a time and trust the Heavenly Father to love them all more than we can imagine.
Thank you faithful prayer team,
Love, Lenie

We’ve rcvd several phone calls asking about Geoff & Amy, our son and daughter-in-law that live in Houston, TX. They are doing OK. They are safe and not harmed, but some of their stuff in their apartment was damaged. They live in the top story of their apartment complex and the roof was damaged and they had water coming in. The most tragic loss was Amy’s laptop which contained all her schoolwork. It can be re-created though. Amy’s parents also live there and are also safe. I know it’s just “stuff”, but it’s still not anything you want anyone to have to go through. Please keep everyone from this area in your prayers. There is much more devastation than what we who live miles away get to see in the media reports. Hopefuly aid is starting to arrive and slowly and surely the people from this area will rebuild and repair. - Steve

Just wanted to let everyone know we are back in Clovis. If you live in Clovis you probably already know, news does travel fast here, but for those away we’re safe.
We made it all the way to Guthrie, OK the first night and then to Lubbock to see Geoff and Amy by late Sunday afternoon. We worked on the house together and went out to pizza and back to the hotel to visit a little. We were all very tired so it wasn’t a long visit but so good to be together. Geoff and Amy headed back to Houston after a lot of work was accomplished at the house. Thanks to all who helped, clean, paint, rip out carpet, chop trees, etc. Tim should be able to settle in late next week. Continue reading »

A lot of us get wrapped up in getting to somewhere while neglecting the day to day experience. John Lennon once said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” Ilene and I are in the middle of a book called “Hot Lights, Cold Steel” Continue reading »

It’s been 26 days since Tim’s transplant … It’s been 95 days since Lenie and Tim moved up to Rochester, MN … It’s been about 5 minutes since I got off the phone with Tim and found out that they will get to start the drive home tomorrow morning after some lab work. I think they are going to push it to get back in a couple of days so they can see Geoff & Amy over in Lubbock. We are having a “home makeover” on Tim’s house this 3-day weekend to try and get it as clean as possible, but come Monday or Tuesday, we should all be in Clovis. Tim will probably just be in Clovis until his house is ready. Can we all shout “Yahoo!” (or is that copyrighted?)

Well, Steve is back in Clovis, but we all had a nice visit with Nancy and her folks at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Minneapolis last night before he flew home. Tim is adjusting off the pain meds and there are no friends around to distract him from the discomfort. Each day we are still either having labs, ultrasounds or seeing a nurse or doctor. They say that keeps you from laying around. That’s for sure, no time for that. It is definitely a big recovery, harder than Tim anticipated. He is doing well and his labs are coming back better each time. Continue reading »

One of Tim’s good friends, Kiko, was able to spend the week with us. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much to offer him other than waiting rooms, appointments and education classes. We had to say goodbye to him today because Continue reading »

On Sunday afternoon, in Portland, OR, on February 15th of 1981 - Ilene and I went on our first date to see the Harlem Globe Trotters. A little more than a year later on August 21st, 1982, we were married. Today we celebrate 26 years together. It has gone by really, really fast. I still remember the first time I saw her. We were in the library at George Fox College (yes you skeptics, I did actually study in college). She literally took my breath away. All I could do was talk about her Continue reading »

We found out yesterday that Tim’s “rejection episode” is all cleared up. His last liver biopsy showed that everything is normal. We’ve been spending a lot of time visiting pharmacists, nurses, coordinators, taking education classes, etc, etc. He is doing a remarkable job Continue reading »
